First Saturday @ BCTC

The FUN and popular 'First Saturday' doubles tournaments have become a tradition at Bristol Central. They are normally held on the first Saturday of each month.  All club members are welcome however the standard of play is 'social' rather than competitive, with a target audience of regular club players, stronger Improver players and older Juniors.  The format is to play with a variety of partners while keeping track of your personal “games won” score (the organiser does this for you!).

Other features are:

  • Free Entry

  • Free Refreshments (Biscuits, Cakes, Tea, Coffee, Juice)

  • Prizes – Each Tournament there will be 4 prizes available to the Men & Women’s Winners and Runners-up

  • Points – Points will be allocated to all those who attend and play. These points will be totalled throughout the year, with the top point earners receiving a Prize at the Year End AGM. The points allocation will be your total score on the day plus 10 points for Attendance. This means that even if you are not ‘in the prizes’ each month, your enjoyment and attendance of the tournaments may be rewarded at the end of the year as a result of perseverance!!

The Tournaments have a Start Time of 2.30 pm (please arrive at 2.15 so you can warm-up and play can start at 2.30).  The dates will be included in the Club Diary and on the notice board in the clubhouse. It is helpful if everyone can arrive on time so that the Tournament can be completed within its allocated Court Time.

If you would like to volunteer to organise a tournament then please contact Sue Carver (see the poster in the clubhouse for more info.).  You get points for organising so you won’t miss out on your tally for the year.
